About the project

Slemdal is a neighborhood in the town of Vestre Aker, in Oslo. It’s a place full of history and its connection with nature served as the base for the project’s main ideas. Our objective was that the illustrations did their part to transmit this. Understanding the characteristics of the site and the project design led to earning first place in the architecture competition for a residential complex that would serve as a transition between the city and new large-scale housing complexes. We had to try to achieve seductive images with leafy gardens and subtle green contexts where the balconies appeared as one more element of the landscape and the materials could be carefully worked to give a feeling of homely warmth. Our challenge was to generate a true photograph of an instant in the daily life of the neighborhood with a focus on shared spaces, outdoor activities and a building modeled to interact with a unique landscape.
